NAF study centre students make seminar presentation
Nursing and Public Health Sciences students from levels 300, 400 and 500 in the Special Study Centre for the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna, have undergone a seminar presentation exercise, which is in partial fulfillment of the requirements for their graduation.
However, before the commencement of the exercise, held at the NAF Base study centre in Kaduna, there was a presentation on mentorship for both the staff and students by one of the facilitators, Prof. Rabiu Abdussalam Magaji of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Speaking with NOUN News about the rationale behind the mentorship training, Magaji said it was aimed at improving and shaping the academic carrier of both the staff and the students of the centre.
One of the goals of the training, he added, was to introduce various mentor training approaches in order to see the what work best.
Director of the centre, Prof. Nda Mundi said the seminar presentation was a benchmark set by the National Universities Commissions (NUC0 for students’ graduation.
He said the students are lucky to be party to the best Open and Distance Learning (ODL) university in world, stressing that the exercise will improve the academic and quality of the students and as well the university’s standard.
Mundi, therefore, called on the students to be well-disciplined and dedicated to their studies as NOUN certificate is for those with good character and learning.
The Desk Officer, Faculty of Health Sciences of the centre, Mrs. Bridjet Agbo, in her closing remarks, congratulated the students for their successful presentations.
She urged them to effect all the necessary corrections made and improve on the work standard.
Agbo thanked the university management and the director of the centre for their support and encouragement.
Prof. Magaji and Dr. Ibrahim Audu were the facilitators in Nursing Sciences and Public Health, respectively.
Effects of Measles on Pre-school Children, Effects of Hypertension in Pregnancy, and The Importance of Exclusive Breastfeeding, were among the topics presented by the students.
